Of the three climbing areas at Exit 38 (Far Side, Deception, and Mt. Washington) Deception Crags is the most popular. It's not because it has the best routes but because it has the easiest and quickest route access of the the three areas. This appeals to the newer breed of quick gratification, don’t have much time, rock climber. There are six places to climb at Deception: Substation, Write-Off Rock, Nevermind, Deception Wall, We Did Rock, and Hall Rock. Substation, Write-Off, and We Did Rock offer the most beginner routes (5.5 - 5.9), Deception Wall is mostly intermediate (5.10 - 5.11), and Nevermind is mostly advanced (5.11 - 5.12).
